It does make me wonder though - will 200 year old African Blackwood actually be treated so that termites won’t be able to make a quick meal out of $5,500? Well, even if that happens, at least I can still salvage the aircraft-grade steel which has been polished and coated with titanium, being used for the handset’s back panels and keyboard areas. Gotta love the magnetic lock for the battery cover too, which will improve reliability and ease of use.
Some of the specifications of the Gresso Steel series include :-
- 64MB RAM
- 2GB internal flash memory
- Windows Mobile 6.0 (what, no 6.1?)
- 320 x 240 resolution sapphire crystal display
- 2 megapixel camera
- Tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz)
- Bluetooth 1.2 connectivity
- USB 2.0 connectivity
- 1,100mAh lithium ion battery
- 4 hour talk time
- 150 hours standby time
- 4.7″ x 1.9″ x 0.6″
The $5,500 price tag make this the domain of the rich, but if you feel like splurging out even more, there are always previous Sol and Luna models which feature gold keypads instead of the steel ones used here. Needless to say, they pack a more potent punch to your wallet, retailing for 7,000 and 5,000 Euros respectively.
